FURst Tuesday of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Donation Drive

Oct. 1st is the first Tuesday of the month, and you know what that means…therapy dogs will be at the SRVC. The Sexual and Relationship Violence Center (SRVC) and NWA Chapter of Love on a Leash are continuing to team up to bring therapy dogs to campus for FURst Tuesday.

In recognition of the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the SRVC is collecting pet supplies to be donated to the Candy Clark Pet Sanctuary with Peace at Home Family Shelter. People who want to leave a domestic violent situation often must choose between staying in an abusive relationship or leaving their pet behind. It is not uncommon for abusers to also abuse pets to harm and control those they abuse. To alleviate this and eliminate such a painful choice, the Candy Clark Pet Sanctuary was built.

To help care for the pets, the Candy Clark Pet Sanctuary needs the following items (new items only):

  • Dental treats
  • Pet friendly beef sticks
  • Slip leads/collars
  • Cat harnesses
  • Kongs
  • Pet shampoo
  • Pet clothes

The SRVC will collect donated pet items at FURst Tuesday and throughout the week (Sept. 30 - Oct. 4) during regular business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.).

Come visit the therapy dogs and get some TLC. We hope to see you at FURst Tuesday on Oct. 1 from 6-7 p.m. Weather permitting, the event will be just outside of the SRVC at 640 N. Garland, Suite 113 (Garland Garage Retail and Office Complex). In the event of inclement weather, we will move inside the SRVC.
