School of Law Welcomes Norman as New Faculty Member
University Relations

Peter Norman, assistant professor, joined the U of A School of Law this fall as one of the newest faculty members. As a member of the clinical teaching faculty, he will start and direct a new transactional law clinic, which will provide legal assistance to Arkansas-based small businesses, cooperatives, non-profits and others.

"We are excited that Professor Norman will supervise our students in providing these much-needed legal resources to the entrepreneurial community. His clinic is consistent with the law school's land-grant mission and will provide legal services to entrepreneurs who contribute to the region's economic growth," said Dean Cynthia Nance.

Norman most recently served as a clinical teaching fellow and co-taught the Community Development Clinic at the University of Baltimore School of Law, representing Baltimore-area non-profits, cooperatives and social enterprises on transactional and business structuring issues. He supervised student attorneys on matters relating to entity formation and governance, federal tax-exempt status, Maryland charitable immunity law, state food safety regulations and legislative drafting.

Norman also has teaching experience at Singapore Management University and New York University School of Law. He has worked as an attorney at law firms in New York and Singapore and co-founded a start-up software development company.

He holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where he was a junior fellow for the Institute for International Law and Justice and a Florence Allen Scholar. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Yale University. Norman has authored publications and presented on environmental law, energy and natural resources.
