Get ready to "Rise Up and Vote" today!

University Housing welcomes the campus community to a voter registration event and mayoral candidate meet-and-greet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today outside the Arkansas Union Mall.

It's not just any event — you'll get to enjoy a classic hotdog cookout, test your knowledge with trivia (and win prizes!) and meet some of Fayetteville's mayoral candidates in person.

Both current Mayor Lioneld Jordan and candidate Molly Rawn will be on hand to answer your questions and chat with students about the future of Fayetteville. This is your chance to get up close and personal with the people shaping your community.

"Rise Up and Vote" is a collaborative effort between University Housing, the Associated Student Government and the Center for Community Engagement. If you're from neighboring states like Oklahoma, Texas or Missouri, don't worry — you can grab information about how to vote in your home state too.

"Voting is crucial, especially in a presidential election year," said Nick Haught, University Housing's director of residence education. "We want to make sure students are equipped to navigate the electoral process."

John Davis, an associate professor of political science, agreed, "It's important for students to see how they can get involved locally. Meeting these candidates helps them understand that politics isn't just something on the news — it's right here, in their own backyard."

So come on out today, get registered and take the first step toward making your voice heard!
