'Experience UARK Graduate School' Slated for Sept. 20; RSVP Deadline Extended to Sept. 13

Graduate students engage in discussion during last year's Teaching Camp.

Undergraduate students interested in attending graduate school can learn more about graduate studies at the U of A through the Experience UARK Graduate School event Sept. 20. Students should RSVP by Friday, Sept. 13, and can do so by filling out an online form.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room 504 of the Arkansas Union and is intended for undergraduate students who are either first-generation or part of the TRIO Program. The day will include information sessions on multiple topics relating to applying for and/or attending graduate school.

"At the University of Arkansas, we are committed to supporting first-generation college students as they navigate through their educational journey, especially in pursuing graduate studies," said Rachel Owsley, graduate student recruitment specialist in the Graduate School and International Education. "Whether you are exploring options or ready to apply, this event will provide valuable insights and resources to help you succeed."

The full schedule is:

  • 9:30 a.m. — Check-in
  • 10 a.m. — Welcome session    
  • 10:30 a.m. — Breakout sessions on student success and academic programs
  • 11 a.m. — Information sessions on cost and funding
  • Noon — Lunch
  • 1 p.m. — Campus tour
  • 2 p.m. — Information session on applying to graduate school and admissions walkthrough
  • 2:30 p.m. — Graduate faculty and student panel
  • 3 p.m. — Final thoughts and questions
