The Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center (AIMRC) will host Alan Woessner, AIMRC Imaging & Spectroscopy Core manager at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Bell Engineering 2267. In this talk, he will discuss the basics of multiphoton microscopy, as well as equipment-specific tips and tricks for collecting publication-level data.

Abstract: Multiphoton microscopy is an advanced optical imaging technique that allows for collection of label-free sources of contrast such as two-photon excited fluorescence (TPEF) and fluorescence lifetime (FLIM). Within the AIMRC Imaging and Spectroscopy Core, multiphoton microscopy is primarily used to non-invasively assess the metabolic state of cells and tissue through NADH and FAD autofluorescence. In this technical seminar, the basics of multiphoton microscopy will be discussed, as well as equipment-specific tips and tricks for collecting publication-level data.

Biography: Woessner serves as the manager for the Imaging and Spectroscopy Core. Woessner was awarded a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 and a Ph.D in biomedical engineering in 2022 from the U of A. He specializes in multiphoton microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) and image and data analysis.

This event is supported by NIGMS of the National Institutes of Health under award number P20GM139768. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.

Pizza and beverages will be served. Please contact Kimberley Fuller, fullerk@uark.edu, for more information.
