Alex Kennetz has been named employee of the fourth quarter by the U of A Global Campus. Cheryl Murphy, vice provost for distance education and head of the Global Campus, recognized Kennetz as the employee of the quarter at a staff meeting on July 11.

Kennetz, financial affairs analyst on the Financial Affairs and Human Resources team at Global Campus, was nominated for his commitment to supporting all branches of Global Campus. The co-workers who nominated Kennetz also praised him for taking on extra duties and eagerly assisting others whenever needed.

"He is a true asset to the Financial Affairs Team and a pleasure to work with," said Kennetz's co-workers in a written nomination. "His dedication and hard work have been great for the entire university, and he deserves to be recognized for these accomplishments."

Kennetz joined Global Campus in March 2023. His work primarily involves a variety of fiscal and administrative support to Global Campus and its Professional and Workforce Development unit. This includes program assistance, accounting, registration, grant management, budgeting and other duties.

"Receiving this award feels good," Kennetz said. "It shows that I am doing my job and meeting the standards placed on me."

Jamie Loftin, assistant vice provost for distance education administration for Global Campus, serves as Kennetz's immediate supervisor.

"Alex has been part of the Global Campus team for a little over a year, but he has made a huge impact," Loftin said. "Alex has been instrumental in our unit budgeting process and in all financial matters relating to our Professional and Workforce Development unit. Alex graciously helps others as needed, and we appreciate his contributions to Global Campus."

The Global Campus awards the employee of the quarter to recognize outstanding achievements and accomplishments that relate to the unit's goals and the U of A mission. The award recipient receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award. The four quarterly awardees may then be eligible to become the Global Campus Employee of the Year.

Other fourth-quarter nominees include:

  • Alex Dowell, instructional designer, Instructional Design and Support Services
  • Brandon Harner, technology support specialist, Technology and Building Services
  • Kathy Green, administrative support supervisor, Instructional Design and Support Services
  • Radiance Orrin, online student liaison, Innovation and Online Student Experience

The Global Campus supports the U of A academic colleges and schools in the development and delivery of online degree programs and courses and workforce development programs. This unit provides instructional design services, learning technology support, media production services and assistance with financial administration, recruitment and marketing.

The Global Campus also supports the W.E. Manning Memorial Scholarship, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying in online degree programs.
