UA Power Group Welcomes Chief of Operations: Jason Serin

The College of Engineering is pleased to announce that Jason Serin has been appointed chief of operations for the UA Power Group. Serin spent almost a decade at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, established in 2009, where he was responsible for constructing and directing major research support teams. Before this, Serin was chair of the Chemistry Department at Glendale College in Glendale, Arizona, where he was awarded a National Science Foundation grant to build an undergraduate research program and update the chemistry curriculum and facilities.

"Jason has an established history leading research support teams," said Alan Mantooth, executive director of the UA Power Group. "His experience and expertise will enhance the UA Power Group and help advance our organization to the next level."

In his career, Serin served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Special Reaction Team member, a special unit of the Military Police​. He has effectively guided teams to foster a remarkable team culture and achieve high levels of efficiency, resulting in cost savings. Serin obtained a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2004.

The UA Power Group is a multidisciplinary group of researchers working to deliver next-generation electronic vehicles, renewable energy systems, grid infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
