Seven Engineering Faculty Receive Dean's Excellence Awards

College of Engineering Dean Kim Needy recognized seven faculty members with Dean's Excellence Awards for their achievements in teaching, research and service during a faculty-staff meeting May 3. The faculty members were nominated by their departments for excellent performance during the 2023-24 academic year.

"I'm so pleased to honor this exceptional group of faculty members, who go above and beyond in teaching, research and service to our industries and communities," Needy said. "Their commitment to excellence enriches the lives and learning of our students and inspires all of us to be our best."

The honorees are:

  • Rising Star Faculty Research Award: Ngan Le, assistant professor, electrical engineering and computer science
  • Collaborative Research Faculty Award: David Huitink, associate professor, mechanical engineering
  • John L. Imhoff Outstanding Teaching Award: Brajendra Panda, professor, electrical engineering and computer science
  • John L. Imhoff Outstanding Research Award: Kyle Quinn, professor, biomedical engineering
  • Rising Teaching Award: Chris Nelson, assistant professor, biomedical engineering
  • Biggadike Teaching Award: James Davis, teaching assistant professor, mechanical engineering
  • Outstanding Public Service Award: Matthew Patitz, associate professor, electrical engineering and computer science
