U of A Uptown Campus Fondly Remembers John Griffith
Luginbuel Funeral Home

The U of A mourns the loss of a beloved member of its uptown campus: John Griffith, who passed away on April 19, 2024.  Griffith joined the university in 2002 and served uptown's facilities management needs with endearing humor, wit and kindness.

Griffith positively impacted the lives of everyone he met and served, embodying the university's commitment to belonging. Even in brief interactions, he was known for his genuine warmth that would brighten someone's day and bring a smile to their face.

"John was one of our own, and we grieve his absence as part of our work family," said Scott Turley, associate vice chancellor for facilities. "Our staff builds relationships with the people in the buildings they serve, and John will be missed by all those he influenced as he worked to make the university a better place for his coworkers."

Griffith's absence is deeply felt by those who work at the uptown campus, and the university community extends sympathies to his wife and son — whom he lovingly spoke of with great pride.
