Offices of Career Connections Launches Career Readiness Badge on HogSync
The Offices of Career Connections is excited to unveil the innovative Career Readiness Badge on HogSync. This initiative aims to equip students with essential competencies sought after by employers while also fostering increased engagement in co-curricular activities.
This campus-wide badge assesses students' career readiness and provides a comprehensive roadmap of opportunities offered by departments and student organizations to practice and develop career-ready skills. These skills, identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, encompass a wide array of competencies essential for professional success. By actively participating in campus activities tagged with these competencies, students can earn the campus-wide Career Ready Badge.
To earn the badge, students must engage in at least five events aligned with each of the eight career-ready skills or reflect on competency-focused campus activities. Upon completion, students must submit a final reflection showcasing their ability to articulate how they have utilized these skills throughout their experiences.
Badge completers who complete the First Destination Survey before graduation will also be rewarded with a gold graduation cord and a LinkedIn badge, signifying to potential employers their readiness for the workforce.
The launch of the Career Readiness Badge program is also expected to encourage student engagement across campus, reinforce students' knowledge of career-readiness terms and increase the understanding of the relationship between co-curricular activities and students' individualized post-graduation goals.
Departments and student groups are invited to tag their events with an "OCC" tag when their events give students an opportunity to practice and develop career-ready skills. Organizers can become familiar with the behaviors that signal the use of career competencies at Be Career Ready.
Students interested in taking advantage of this valuable program can get started by joining the Offices of Career Connections on HogSync and participating in events with an "OCC" tag starting in August 2024.
