Compete at HogHacks April 12-13
The Association of Computing Machinery U of A student chapter invites students to come compete at HogHacks on April 12-13. The opening meeting is on Friday, April 12, in Hillside Auditorium 206 at 5:30 p.m., and entry is free.
A hackathon is an event where participants form small groups and use their technology skills to create a product that corresponds to a given theme. Upon receiving the theme, teams have just 24 hours to create their project. Once the 24-hour time limit is up, the hackathon enters the judging stage where each team presents their project to a group of judges and ranks the teams.
Hackathons are a very common event in the computer science community. They are designed to give participants the chance to meet other people with similar interests and prove what they know. This also allows them to create projects to be put on a résumé. HogHacks is no different. HogHacks is designed to give students an opportunity to apply the skills they are learning in the classroom and give them a chance to get experience working with their peers. Participants will have the chance to grow their community with fellow students, win prizes, network with some of the event's sponsors and much more.
This event is supported by the Student Activities Fee as a funded event by the Associated Student Government and is free to all currently-enrolled University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who pay the student activities fee. This event is held in a venue that meets ADA standards. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend this event. If you require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this event, please contact Jack Norris, jtn006@uark.edu, 334-333-8745.
