Recruiting Arkansas: Chancellor Robinson, Admissions Team Visit Central and Southeast Arkansas

The University of Arkansas' commitment to serving students from every part of the state was on display last week as Chancellor Charles Robinson and the Admissions team visited six high schools in central and southeast Arkansas. Chancellor Robinson, Vice Provost for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions Suzanne McCray and others spoke about the importance of higher education and the opportunities offered by the University of Arkansas. 

The recruiting trip included stops at Bauxite High School, Benton High School, Bryant High School, Sheridan High School, Star City High School and Warren High School. The U of A has already admitted 271 incoming freshmen from these schools for the fall 2024 semester and offered them $1,952,000 in scholarship funding over the next four years. 

"We are deeply committed to reaching out to students across the state and showcasing the opportunities available at the University of Arkansas," said Chancellor Robinson. "From world-class academic programs to crucial financial support and a vibrant campus community, we want Arkansas students to know that the U of A is the perfect place to pursue their academic, personal and professional goals." 

"The students we met on this trip were amazing," said Dr. Suzanne McCray. "If they choose to come to the University of Arkansas — and we hope they do — we will do everything we can to help them realize their various ambitions by providing financial aid to those in need, scholarships to those who apply, student success resources, health and wellness support, as well as mentoring and personalized guidance. Our goal is not only to enroll students but also to ensure their success from orientation to graduation and beyond, both inside and outside of the classroom." 

The trip allowed the U of A contingent to connect with students, as well as teachers, counselors and administrators. It also attracted the attention of state officials, with several Arkansas legislators attending each assembly. State Senator Kim Hammer attended assemblies, as did State Representatives Keith Brooks, Tony Furman, R.J. Hawk and Jeff Wardlaw. 

"The enthusiasm and engagement we saw from students, educators and state officials during this trip was truly exciting," said Megan Garland, associate director of Arkansas recruitment. "We know that higher education has the power to change communities throughout the state, and the U of A plays a vital role in building a brighter future for all Arkansans." 

Assistant director for Arkansas recruitment Radeanna Garcia, admissions counselor Erin Anders and senior associate director for communications John Baltz also took part in the recruiting trip.
