UARK - Qualtrics Research Award: What Is It?

The purpose of this award is to support students conducting online survey studies to reach their desired study population. Selected awardees will receive "Qualtrics Credits" that can be used to purchase up to 400 online survey participants (depending on the population targeted). Awardees will work with participating U of A Research Analysts and Qualtrics representatives to redeem their credits to reach their desired populations.  

Who is eligible to apply?

• This proposal is open to students who are conducting online survey research during spring and summer 2024. Students must receive IRB approval for their online survey by May 1. Students must launch their surveys no later than June 30 (the project may be completed at a later date; only the survey launch is required by June 30). Surveys that are in progress may also be eligible for the credits, if these credits can help the researcher make response rate goals.
• Students in any discipline conducting online survey research in the Qualtrics software may apply. While both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible, preference will be given to undergraduate (both honors and non-honors) student researchers.
• Student research goals must be met with up to 400 online responses, or the student must be able to show how they are able to secure the remaining number of needed responses.

How many awards are expected?

• Depending on the number of respondents desired for each study, eight to 12 awards are expected to be made.

• Complete the call for proposals on Infoready. 

When is the deadline to apply?

• Applications will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 5.

When will I be informed of the results?

• Applicants will be informed of decisions no later than April 21.

What materials are required in the application?

• Student academic resume - no more than two pages
• Mentor curriculum vitae - no more than two pages  
• Current transcript - unofficial transcript may be downloaded from UAConnect
• Research proposal - this will consist of three parts:
  • Research summary - one-page summary that provides justification for the research and surveying methods used;
  • Survey population description - provide one paragraph that describes the characteristics of the desired respondents. Preference given to respondent populations with three or less mandatory characteristics (i.e., college students from Arkansas who are first generation; women between the ages of 21-50 who have given birth to at least one child; current residents of Idaho who graduated from college between 1995-2010 with a degree in engineering);
  • Research timeline - highlight timeframe (by month) of IRB approval, survey development in Qualtrics, expected survey launch and close dates, timeline for analysis and project competition.
• Short online recommendation completed by mentor.

What are the reporting requirements for those awarded the credits?

• Awarded students and their mentors will be asked to complete a short survey that reflects upon the impact that this assistance made on the student research training/experience.
• A short (500-1,000 word) blog may also be required that can be used to highlight survey research projects on campus.
