Fiscal Manager Named Employee of the Quarter for Engineering
Josh Gilgen, a fiscal support manager for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been recognized as the College of Engineering Employee of the Second Quarter.
"It is truly an honor to receive this recognition. I am so happy to be a part of EECS and the College of Engineering," Gilgen said.
Associate Professor Kevin Jin shared that Gilgen's performance has enriched the department.
"Josh's exceptional knowledge and expertise have been pivotal in our department's financial matters. His ability to provide valuable insights and practical suggestions to optimize financial processes has saved us time and resources. He continuously seeks new ways to enhance our funding allocation, grant transfers and expense management," Jin said.
Gilgen's work with external funding is intricate and complex, and the department would be much worse off without it, said Associate Professor Qinghua Li.
"Josh is very easy to work with. He is very collegial, a very nice person. I fully support him for this recognition without any reservation," Li said.
Gilgen's hard work impacts almost every project in the department. Assistant Professor Lu Zhang expressed personal appreciation for Gilgen's assistance in managing research grants during the transition to Workday, stating, "I cannot thank Josh enough for his contributions, and I am truly lucky to have Josh as part of the department."
Dean Kim Needy offered words of encouragement, appreciation and pride.
"I'm so grateful for the work Josh does for the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and I'm so happy to see his efforts acknowledged in this way," she said.
Each Employee of the Quarter receives a monetary award and certificate.
