2024-2025 Staff Senate Nominations Now Open

Nominations for Staff Senate positions are open for all full-time staff members. Nominations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. Click here to submit your nominations.

Staff members interested in shaping policies and procedures to better the U of A staff should consider running for Staff Senate. All 100% appointed staff members can nominate an employee to represent their division or represent all staff as an at-large candidate. Nominees are required to have worked for the university for a minimum of one year (as of Jan. 31, 2024), have the support of their supervisor and receive at least two nominations to appear on the election ballot. Please make sure to ask individuals if they are interested in serving before submitting nominations.

Staff Senate time commitments include one meeting per month with additional involvement in occasional sub-committee meetings and service throughout the year, including the annual Staff Celebration Picnic in the spring and Staff Appreciation Week in the fall. Those interested in running should promote themselves within their division — ask coworkers to nominate you. Individuals with the most nominations within their category will be placed on the election ballot (individuals must have at least two nominations to appear on the ballot).

Eligible nominees will be contacted via email to confirm participation in Staff Senate elections. Nominees who accept candidacy may submit a platform statement and photo so the campus community can review candidates on the Staff Senate website. This will be available after the nomination period closes through the election cycle — April 1-22, 2024.

The following positions are open for this year (all three-year terms, unless otherwise specified):

  • Five openings in the Academic Affairs Division — all colleges, libraries, centers, etc.
  • Two openings in the Chancellor's Division - Includes the Chancellor's Office, Athletics and the offices of the Vice Chancellors of Research and Innovation, Economic Development, and Government and Community Relations
  • Two openings in Finance and Administration — including Facilities, UAPD, Transit and Parking, Business & Financial Affairs, etc.
  • One opening in Student Affairs — including Pat Walker Health Center, Arkansas Union, Housing, Student Activities, etc.
