The Anthropocene From the Hill: Call for Submissions
The Anthropocene from the Hill is a new student-run anthology looking for submissions! This anthology is being constructed by Brian Nicholson, Nicole Partlow and Eva Weege in the hopes of further highlighting the literary works of the U of A student body and furthering our own experience in editing and publication.
Our theme is everyday magic. To allow for creativity in your prose or poetry pieces, we leave this theme up for your interpretation, but ask that some aspect of your piece take on an "out of this world" element. Whether that be fantasy, tiny miracles or unexpected turns, we are not picky; we only ask that you have fun with it.
Regarding submissions, we are open to new work, reprints and simultaneous submissions in creative nonfiction, poetry and fiction. For reprints, we require that you make us aware of when and where it was published; for simultaneous submissions, we ask that you inform us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Submission Guidelines:
- Poetry: Up to five poems totaling five pages or less.
- For creative non-fiction and fiction: Can submit one to three pieces totaling 5,000 words or less.
- All submissions should be emailed to afth@uark.edu.
The deadline for submissions will be March 8, but we are doing rolling acceptances/requests for revisions, so pay attention to your email. If we request revisions and do not hear confirmation within three business days, we will take it as a no.
Final decisions will be given by April 2.
