Kaitlyn Picard, the November Student Leader of the Month

Junior Kaitlyn Picard has been selected as the Student Leader of the Month for November 2023. Originally from Norman, Oklahoma, she came to the U of A to study food science-culinary arts and hospitality management. She is involved in the Razorback Marching Band and the Food Science Club.

Picard said she got involved in the band because she loves music. Since she is a food science major, she is automatically a part of the Food Science Club.

Picard believes the most important qualities of a leader are patience, organization and willingness to step up.

Her advice to other student leaders is to not be afraid to make conversation.

Noelle Chesser is her mentor. Picard says that Chesser is an incredible leader.

Her favorite leadership quote is "Leadership is not a position or a title, it's action and example."

The Student Leader of the Month award, sponsored by New Student & Family Programs, recognizes U of A undergraduate students for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities or through volunteer and community service. More information about the award can be found here.
