U of A Student-Run Record Label, Hill Records, Releases 'Rain Check' EP

Hill Records, the student-run record label at the U of A, announced the release of their latest EP, Rain Check. The EP, available on Nov. 10 on their website, hillrecords.uark.edu, and all streaming platforms, marks the label's third project and adds four new local artists to their existing list of talent.

The four-track collection was curated by students at the U of A and music selected from artists across the state. On
review, the producers discovered a common theme for each song: missed opportunities.

"The theme wasn't our intention, but ... as we looked at the body of work as a whole, we noticed a common denominator," said Drew Bethell, Hill Records president. "The more we listened to the music, the more it became apparent."

Hill Records faculty adviser, Jake Hertzog, agrees. "Each track tells a story of resilience and artistic ambition, and the EP serves as a testament to the determination and creative spirit of its featured artists. They reclaimed their aspirations, and this [the EP] is the result of that."

Rain Check showcases the following artists and songs:

Hill Records aims for the EP to showcase the range of musical styles and artistic perspective of the artists on the label. "Rain Check is a testament to the talent that thrives within the Arkansas music community and the passion the staff at Hill Records has for their artists' futures," Bethell said.

Students wanting to submit music for a future Hill Records release need to contact them at hillrec@uark.edu. Submissions will be open to all musicians across Arkansas.

Rain Check is now available for streaming and download on all major music platforms. For more information on Hill Records and Rain Check, visit the official Hill Records website or follow Hill Records on social media.
