Goforth to Serve as ABA Advisor to Committee on Virtual Currency Consumer Protection

Carol Goforth, Clayton N. Little Professor of Law, has been selected by American Bar Association's State and Local Government Law Section to serve as the ABA advisor to the Drafting Committee on Virtual Currency Customer Protection of the Uniform Law Commission. 

The Virtual Currency Customer Protection Committee is tasked with developing a new act to replace the Uniform Supplemental Commercial Law for the Uniform Regulation of Virtual Currency. Goforth will be responsible for keeping the ABA entities progressively informed of committee work, and to relay input from the entities to the committee to ensure all viewpoints are communicated during committee deliberations.

"I have been a fan of much of the work of the Uniform Law Commission, and I am very pleased to be a part of their efforts at improving consumer protection in the context of cryptoassets," said Goforth. "It is an honor to have been selected for this role."

Goforth specializes in business associations and securities regulation, and she has become a leading expert on the regulation of cryptoassets and transactions. West Academic published the second edition of her textbook, Regulation of Cryptoassets in 2022. In addition, she has written more than a dozen published journal articles focused on the regulation of cryptoassets, and she provides regular commentary on the subject. She is also on the board of advisors to Honeycomb Digital Investments. Goforth is a Distinguished Professor and the Clayton N. Little Professor of Law at the U of A School of Law. She previously held the position of associate dean for academic affairs and Arkansas Bar Foundation Professor of Law.
