Calling All Graduate Students for an Exciting New Course in Higher Education
Graduate students, have you ever wanted to take a course that builds your experience and understanding of the teaching process and provides opportunities to explore how people learn across different contexts and disciplines? Consider enrolling in a new higher education course for the 2024 spring semester.
HIED 6343 Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (Wednesdays 5:30-8:15 p.m.)
Brett Ranon Nachman, an assistant professor of adult and lifelong learning in the College of Education and Health Professions, will lead the class through dialogues, readings, activities and assignments focused on a variety of topics. Collectively, these experiences will better acquaint graduate students with how to elevate their teaching (e.g., curriculum design, high-impact practices, faculty development) and the various spaces and ways in which students learn (e.g., living-learning communities and experiential learning).
Guest speakers will include researchers, administrators and staff from across campus and beyond, lending further context to how their work employs a multitude of teaching and learning approaches. Graduate students across all disciplines are welcome to enroll, though space is limited.
For more information, please contact Nachman at bnachman@uark.edu.
