Office of Admissions Celebrates National Transfer Student Week
Each year, the U of A Office of Admissions joins with the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students and campus partners to participate in National Transfer Student Week, an event celebrating transfer students and those who support them.
Throughout the week of Oct. 16, U of A transfer students have the opportunity to win prizes, participate in gatherings and learn more about campus resources dedicated to their success. Students at other institutions who are interested in transferring to the university can also take advantage of informational fairs and attend presentations happening around the region.
"National Transfer Student Week amplifies something we believe every day at the university - transfer students are an invaluable part of the U of A community," said Chad Cox, associate director of Transfer Central. "We are always delighted to partner with New Student and Family Programs and with our colleagues in the academic colleges to help transfer students find success as a vibrant part of our campus."
As part of National Transfer Student Week, the Office of Admissions will offer free applications for admission on Oct. 19-20 for interested transfer students in Arkansas. To qualify, students should visit apply.uark.edu and submit an application prior to Oct. 21 for spring, summer or fall 2024 terms. Application fees will automatically be waived for transfer students who apply during this period.
Transfer students at the U of A find strong support from Transfer Central in the admission process and from the campus community, once enrolled. From specific events for transfer students during A-Week to specialized course offerings like ARSC 2201 — College Perspectives for Transfer Students — the campus is committed to creating a sense of belonging for all transfer students.
"My short time here at the U of A has been nothing but pure happiness," said Markese Mullins, a senior transfer student from Blytheville who is pursuing a degree in social work. "I've felt supported throughout my whole college career. My admissions counselor was a great support and resource who made sure I was set to enroll and ready to be a Razorback."
Throughout National Transfer Student Week, admission counselors in Transfer Central are standing by to provide guidance and answer questions. Interested students should reach out at transfer@uark.edu or 479-575-5346.
A word of advice from Mullins: "If you have any doubts about transferring to the University of Arkansas, JUST DO IT! You will enjoy it."
