Multicultural Center, University Programs to Screen First Latino-Directed Feature Film Made in State

The Multicultural Center and University Programs invite you to a reception, screening and talkback for Llego Hoy, the first Latino-directed and produced feature-length film originating from Arkansas, tonight in the Arkansas Union.

Refreshments will be served in the Anne Kittrell Gallery at 5 p.m. The films' screening will be in the Union Theater at 6 p.m., followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers at 7:30 p.m. To ensure you have a spot at tonight's showing, please complete this Eventbrite form.

Llego Hoy follows Marta, a caring mother, and her boyfriend Chuy, an upholstery worker, as they attempt to smuggle Marta's son, Neno, into the US to finally be together as a family. Their plans take an unexpected turn when they are successful in smuggling someone over, but it's not Neno. The stranger's arrival raises more questions than answers. The couple's world begins to unravel. In a journey of lies, fear, and mystery — everything start to crumble as the characters' secrets come to light. Will they ever find Neno? 

The Q&A session will feature the talented duo behind the film: director and writer David Cruz and producer Luis Hernandez. David, a California native with Arkansas roots, skillfully weaves his Latino heritage into his storytelling, blending personal experiences with surreal elements. Meanwhile, Luis, a Chicano filmmaker from Little Rock, Arkansas, captivates audiences through the creation of honest and humble worlds.
