Rheometer Training at Food Science Building Set for Oct. 11
Faculty, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students are invited to attend a training in the use of a new rheometer at the Food Science Building, 2650 N. Young Ave., 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11.
A rheometer is a device that can be used to measure rheological properties of materials. It enables the measurements of viscosity, storage and loss moduli, creep and recovery, yield stress and thixotropy that are critical in several food and non-food applications.
Ali Ubeyitogullari, an assistant professor of food engineering with appointments in the Food Science Department and the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department, will facilitate the training in rooms D1 and D2 at the Food Science Building. A technical representative from Anton Paar will provide the training. Ubeyitogullari conducts research for the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, the research arm of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
"The Anton Paar MCR 302e rheometer can capture accurate rheological measurements from a wide variety of materials with high accuracy due to its wide torque range," Ubeyitogullari said. "The instrument is also equipped with an advanced Peltier system, a temperature control technology that can heat and cool samples from minus 50 to 220 Celsius with high precision."
To attend the training session, contact Ubeyitogullari at uali@uark.edu. Purchase of the rheometer was supported in part by an equipment grant from the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action institution. If you require a reasonable accommodation to participate or need materials in another format, please contact Ubeyitogullari by email at uali@uark.edu as soon as possible.
