National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Next week kicks off National Cybersecurity awareness month! October is dedicated to raising awareness about cybersecurity threats and steps you can take to protect yourself from hackers and scams. IT Services is committed to ensuring that students, faculty and staff have the knowledge and resources to stay safe online.

To help raise awareness to the campus community, IT Services is hosting guest speakers with virtual webinars, informational tables with swag set up in the Arkansas Union, news articles on various security topics and posts on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Follow our social media channels and the Arkansas News email for more information regarding upcoming events.

"As people begin to travel and shop online for the upcoming holiday season, October is the perfect time to be aware of cybersecurity threats and best practices," Chief Information Security Officer Stephen Tycer said. "It is important to be aware of trending scams and how to identify them in order to keep yourself safe online."

Leadership from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cybersecurity Alliance started National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October of 2004 in hopes to increase cyber awareness and online safety of people across the country. You can visit the cybersecurity checklist for more information, tips and guidelines.
