Attention Researchers: Enhance Your Grant-Writing Skills With Free Online Training

The AtKisson Training Group will be conducting three free online grant-writing workshops for researchers and community partners at UAMS, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Little Rock and Pine Bluff. Led by expert M.S. (Peg) AtKisson, Ph.D., ATG empowers academic researchers with the skills to excel in grant writing and leadership. These free workshops, sponsored by TRI and the UAMS Division of Community Health and Research, are typically $200 per person.

Workshop Details: 

Developing and Funding Your Research: Sept. 28 and 29, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

  • Gain insights into planning, time management and structuring NIH grant proposals 

  • Focus on specific aims, research strategy, significance, innovation and approach 

  • Address team management, planning for productivity and publications and sustainable funding 

How to Craft Effective Grant Renewals and Resubmissions: Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

  • Learn resubmission process including productivity, projected budget, research trajectory, progress reports and navigating NIGH Type 2 submissions 

  • Attendees will need to have a planned resubmission to work on and will submit their "pink sheet" of reviewer comments at registration 

How to Prepare Your NIH K Award Application: Oct. 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

  • In-depth guidance on NIH K award proposals, understanding the purpose of each section and how they must align 

  • Enhance K award application with expert knowledge 

Another free ATG-led grant-writing workshop, "Structuring Proposals," will be held March 21 and 22, 2024, 9 a.m. to noon each day. Be sure to save the dates and register early here

Attendees of the "Developing and Funding Your Research" workshop are advised not to also attend "Structuring Proposals," as there is significant overlap.
