Ag Communications' Miller Selected for U of A Rome Center Fellowship

Professor Jefferson Miller in agricultural education, communications and technology will work on two projects at the U of A Rome Center next summer.

Jefferson Miller, U of A professor of agricultural communications, has been named a Research Fellow at the U of A Rome Center and funded through the U of A Graduate School and International Education.

The program supports scholars who are pursuing research, scholarship or creative activity outside their typical routines. Miller, a faculty member in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Science's Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology, begins his fellowship in the summer 2024 semester.

The U of A Rome Center Fellowship provides support for his travel and accommodations to Rome this summer.

"I'll be working on two projects," he said. "The first is to develop and plan an agriculture-focused study tour for U of A students that will be based in Rome. The proposed study tour would be patterned after my existing 'Agricultural and Environmental Communications in the UK' study tour. I'll also spend some of my time in Rome planning curriculum for a proposed agricultural communications academic program at an agricultural college in the United Kingdom."

Miller's fellowship period runs from July 1-Aug. 15, 2024.

"This is considered a 'mini sabbatical,'" Miller said. "It's a time to work in a new environment and be more inspired and creative as a result of a change in location, scenery and culture. I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity to experience Italy and the U of A Rome Center while I work on my teaching and research projects."
