Boot Week Ag Competition Back as U of A Faces LSU In Football

The U of A and Louisiana State University's colleges of agriculture are set to begin year two of a week-long fundraising challenge centered around the annual football matchup.

Arkansas' Dale Bumpers of College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and LSU's College of Agriculture created the "Golden Boot Giving Challenge" crowdfunding challenge last year for the week of the game.

The colleges are mirroring the "Battle for the Golden Boot" game between the Razorbacks and Tigers with a philanthropic challenge running Sept. 16-13 this year leading up to the Sept. 23, 6 p.m. matchup in Baton Rouge.

"Rivalries are an important tradition of college sports, and now you can support a rivalry of another kind," said Dan Miller, the college's director of development and external relations. "Bumpers College vs. LSU's College of Agriculture, two organizations that uniquely contribute to important industries and research in their respective states, are battling it out. This year, we are excited to continue this rivalry and partner with LSU, and we are even more enthusiastic that 100% of the funds raised will support our Bumpers Alumni Society Scholarship fund to support student success and achievement, which helps our students succeed in the their study of agricultural, food and life sciences."

The donation period is Saturday (Sept. 16) through Saturday (Sept. 23). Any amount donated counts for the college. Contributors are counted just once.
