The Film Honors Society will be hosting a "Portfolio Potluck," a filmmaking network event open to all students and staff at the U of A. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Kimpel Hall in room 209.

The Film Society encourages student writers, actors, videographers and anyone curious to bring a sample of their work (and a dish or snack!) to socialize and potentially start projects with their peers.

"We can make better art when we work together and collaborate," the club's website reads. "Even beyond projects, connecting with other creatives and having a community is so important."

Film Honors Society is a new RSO dedicated to increasing filmmaking infrastructure at the U of A. President Brianna Ifland says, "Although we plan to host competitions and workshops in the future, I think the most important thing for student filmmakers is having a team and people to work with. You can only do so much on your own, especially balancing that with classes. If you're a writer who doesn't know anything about cameras, or a photographer who can't write to save their life, what's stopping you from working together to make something cool?"
