The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is thrilled to announce that Lexi Catterlin, a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, has joined the faculty and the U of A Speech and Hearing Clinic. She will offer speech and language services for the pediatric population and supervise graduate and undergraduate student clinicians at the Speech and Hearing Clinic starting this fall.

Originally from Oklahoma and of Cherokee descent, Catterlin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Northeastern State University and her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology from the U of A. She is pursuing her doctoral degree in special education from the U of A. She has clinical experience as a self-employed speech-language pathologist, and as a speech-language pathologist in private practice and school-based settings. She has provided assessment and intervention in the areas of speech, language, fluency, augmentative and alternative communication, and pragmatics, all areas in which she will be providing clinical education at the Speech and Hearing Clinic. Her research interests include inclusive practices of speech-language pathologists in school-based settings.

Catterlin is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, holding her Certificate of Clinical Competence. She is also licensed through the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Catterlin commented, "I am excited to be a part of the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at the University of Arkansas. This opportunity has allowed me to continue three of my major career passions: research, teaching and continually serving clients at the University of Arkansas Speech and Hearing Clinic."

"Lexi has already been a burst of positive energy for our program. She has ample clinical experience and is eager to teach culturally responsive practices to future practitioners. We could not be happier to have her joining our team," commented Rachel Glade, program director of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
