The Engineering World Health RSO is excited to invite students from all engineering/healthcare majors and years to join our fall 2023 and spring 2024 design teams! The teams will meet weekly starting in early October to first research a healthcare challenge facing under-resourced regions of the world and then brainstorm and prototype a unique technological solution.

Projects may involve using CAD to model a device, applying chemistry knowledge to create a new water sterilizer, constructing an electronic sensor using Arduino or coding an app to catalog medical device use instructions; project options vary widely. Ultimately, teams aim to submit a summary report of their solution to the global EWH design competition, with opportunities for recognition and prizes, by the end of May 2024.

Benefits

  • Exciting opportunity to innovate new solutions to real-world healthcare challenges.

  • Hands-on engineering design and prototyping experience, which looks great on a resume.

  • Collaborations with students from a variety of engineering majors.

  • Potential to enter global EWH design competition, with prizes and recognition for winners.

  • Become a member of the U of A EWH community, which plans to host electronic kit building activities, social events and volunteering opportunities.

For more information and to get involved, please visit this link. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 22, and group members will begin meeting in early October! Feel free to contact President Bree Scott at bls038@uark.edu or Design Team Coordinator Ahmed Tolba at amtolba@uark.edu with any questions.

Thank you to the Biomedical Engineering Department for sponsoring us!
