Fowler Conservatory and Parking Lot 1

Fowler Conservatory and Parking Lot 1

Members of the campus community are invited to join the Chancellor's Commission on Women from 8-9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Fowler Conservatory, to observe Women's Equality Day and learn more about the results of a campus survey informing the priorities for the commission for the upcoming year and plans for expansion.

Please RSVP to Marcia Overby moverby@uark.edu by Wednesday, Aug. 23. Parking is available in Lot 1.

Recently, the commission bylaws were updated to expand the number of members. As such, the group seeks nominations of students, faculty and staff for potential selection to fill the new positions and who will serve as officers and on committees.

Please send nominations of self or others to Marcia Overby moverby@uark.edu by Sept. 30.

Founded in 2010, the Chancellor's Commission on Women is an advisory group charged with reviewing and monitoring policies, programs and issues to ensure that all women of the university are given the best possible opportunities for success within the institution and in their professional and college careers.

Membership comprises both graduate and undergraduate students, faculty and staff who serve on staggered three-year appointments. The group collectively decides what issues to tackle each year, and relies on input from colleagues, students, and occasional surveys to gain a sense of the campus' interests and needs.

Alishia Ferguson has served as chair of the commission for the past two years. Danielle Williams is secretary. The staff liaison to the Women's Commission is Angela Mosley-Monts.
