How to Add Events to the University Calendar

Members of the campus community — registered student organizations, academic departments and administrative units — can submit your organization’s events to the university calendar at the Calendar Event Creation page.

If you haven’t logged in before, you can use your normal UARK username and password via the “Log in With School ID” button.

The form includes information for the following:

• Event name
• Description of the event, which is required
• Status, which will start out as “Live,” but can be changed to “Postponed” or “Canceled.”
• Schedule, which includes start date and time, end time and repeating options if the event occurs on more than one day, such as an extended art exhibition.
• Location, including options for hybrid and virtual
• Additional details such as a hashtag for the event
• Photo, which you can upload or choose from a library of images
• Filters, to help someone find your event based on:
  • Type, such as "exhibition," "lecture," "performance" or "workshop"
  • Theme, such as "arts & entertainment," "diversity & inclusion" or "international education"
  • Target audience, such as "students," "faculty," "international" or "alumni"
  • Department, such as an academic department or a research center
  • Group
• Ticketing options, in case your event requires an admission ticket, either for a cost or for free admission. 

Create a Personal Events Email or Widget

The university calendar uses a robust software that allows readers to create a personal event email to notify themselves about events with the specific parameters and interests that matter to them, such as your group's name or a hashtag. For instance, they might choose a “type” of event such as “performances” or “volunteerism” or perhaps they want all events connected with a specific academic department. There are lots of options to narrow or widen what a person receives.

The university calendar also allows you to create an event widget to display your group's events on a web page via an embed code sorted throughh optional settings such as a hashtag, a department or group name or event type.

A sample of daily events is drawn into the Arkansas News email each weekday and it includes a link there to refer readers to all of today's events, giving your event a wider audience. Likewise, a sample of upcoming events is also being drawn into the news email with its own link to view all events.
