The U of A School of Social Work is taking advantage of a unique opportunity to open admissions now for a short time to accept applications for the two-year Master of Social Work program. Deadline for submissions is midnight May 28.

Three years ago, the school was honored to receive a Health Resources and Administration award to provide up to $15,000 per year for students who qualify by demonstrating a financial, geographical or environmental need. There are two years left before this award expires, and the faculty want to ensure that no one who is interested in an M.S.W. degree will miss this great funding opportunity. The time is now if earning a M.S.W. from the U of A is your goal. 

Social workers are licensed professionals who can be found in many agencies and organizations. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the profession is growing 9% each year, faster than that of all occupations. And, according to the American Board of Clinical Social Work, clinical social workers are the largest group of mental health/health providers in the U.S. Graduates of the university's M.S.W. program can be found practicing in mental health, other healthcare arenas, schools and shelter settings. As direct providers and advocates, our social workers also work for the homeless, those who are abused and for those in poverty.   

Social work began at the U of A in 1940. The M.S.W. program was added in 2003 and proudly graduates 40-50 new MSWs each year. The faculty are committed to train leader-practitioners who strive for cultural, racial and anti-oppressive justice. Fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, our small full-time graduate program emphasizes collaboration through a cohort system and rich internship experiences.
