SWAG and School of Social Work Bringing Film to Area
First Step Production Team

The First Step premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was an official selection in more than 40 film festivals. The upcoming theatrical release will mark the film's theatrical premiere in Fayetteville as part of a 20-plus city national release this winter, beginning in New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Los Angeles.

The First Step, by the Kramer Brothers Brandon and Lance Kramer, is a timely, eye-opening documentary that has garnered attention from RogerEbert.com as a "riveting ... extremely illuminating look at how real change occurs in these divisive times." The First Step tells a complex, urgent story about the fight for progress on criminal justice reform and addiction amongst the country's divides.

Go behind closed doors to see Van Jones and a team of advocates bring together politicians and everyday people to fight to pass legislation to bring people home. We invite all community members to join us for this important screening & discussion! The screening will feature a live in-person post-screening conversation with special guests Sophia Dugwyler (Magdalene Serenity House), Chris Jones (Northwest Arkansas Harm Reduction), Ashle Lahue (P.E.A.R.L.) and Kenitra Edwards (alcohol and drug counselor).

Tickets can be purchased for the premiere.
