Analytical Chemistry Seminar on 'Nonprecious Metal Nanostructures' Friday
Dr. Jingyi Chen, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, will give a seminar titled "Rational synthesis of nonprecious metal nanostructures for catalytic applications" in CHEM 144 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.
There will be refreshments available before the seminar starting at 3:10 p.m. in CHEM 105. The talk is free and open to the public.
Chen received a BS in chemistry from Zhongshan (Sun Yat-Sen) University, Guangzhou, China (1997). She came to the United States in 2001. She received an MA in chemistry (with Professor Kimberly A. Bagley) from SUNY College at Buffalo (2002) and a PhD in chemistry (with Professor Younan Xia) from the University of Washington at Seattle (2006). She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory and then as a research assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
In 2010, she started her independent career as a tenure-track assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the U of A. She was promoted to associate professor in 2016 and then to professor in 2020. She was a recipient of the Master Researcher Award in 2017, and she was named an Arkansas Research Alliance Fellow in 2018. She currently serves on the editorial board of RSC journal Nanoscale and Nanoscale Advances. Her research interests include synthesis, characterization and surface modification of nanostructured functional nanomaterials for energy conversion and human-health related applications.
