Black Italia: New Italian Course in Spring 2023

Course Description: Black Italia will explore the history, representation and lived experiences, both prejudices and successes, of marginalized persons in Italy, particularly those of African heritage, through an interdisciplinary lens.
This course will host a lecture from Camilla Hawthorne, author of Contesting Race and Citizenship: Youth Politics in the Black Mediterranean, as well as Karima2G, Italian author, hip-hop artist and founder of the #BLM movement in Rome, Italy.
