Performance Reviews and Semester Hiring Updates

As the end of the calendar year nears, here are some important updates and reminders about performance reviews and spring semester hiring.

Upcoming performance review Workday tasks:

  • Managers will receive a Workday task called "Prepare for Annual Performance Reviews" in early December to verify employee job responsibilities are up to date.
    • If job responsibilities are missing or need updating, please edit the position restrictions by following the step-by-step instructions on this quick reference guide.
  • Both managers and employees will receive a notification requiring the completion of (separate) performance review training in Workday Learning:
    • Performance Reviews for Managers (2023 Reviews)
    • Performance Reviews for Employee (2023 Reviews)
  • Additional performance review training opportunities are coming in January.

Performance review process reminders:

  • All classified and non-classified staff are evaluated in Workday on a calendar year basis.
  • The deadline to complete calendar year 2022 performance reviews is March 31, 2023.
  • Performance reviews for faculty, executive positions, senior administration and head/assistant coaches will be completed outside of Workday, with scores and documentation uploaded into Workday, as required.
  • HR Partners will work with departments to finalize decisions and launch performance reviews in Workday. Performance review launching will begin in early-to-mid January.

Spring Semester Hiring:

Hiring managers should note the following deadlines to ensure newly hired University Evergreen and Graduate Assistant Evergreen employees have access to university systems and are set up to be paid in a timely manner. Click here for a complete guide to direct hiring.

  • If starting work Jan. 9, 2023, initiate the University/GA Evergreen process by no later than Friday, Dec. 16, 2022.
  • If starting work Jan. 16, 2023, initiate the University/GA Evergreen process by no later than Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.
