Religious Conversation Series: Kwanzaa
The Office of Accommodation and Accessibility Services within the department of Equal Opportunity, Compliance, and Title IX partners with the Tyson Center for Faith-Friendly Workplaces to host the Religious Conversation Series. The Religious Conversation Series aims to provide a safe space for our campus community to hear about different faiths and beliefs and how they can impact the workplace and academic environement. The series is held quarterly with different topics addressed at each session.
This session will explore the Kwanzaa celebration and the impact to the workplace and academic environement during this celebratory time. It will help attendees feel more comfortable engaging in conversations regarding religious expression and observance and workplace considerations. The session will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. Please register to attend the event.
Supervisors, managers and the campus community play a role in ensuring that all individuals, no matter their background, feel welcome and that no aspect of their identity will mean that they feel as though they aren't included. The university strives to encourage an environment where employees bring their "full self" to work, where they feel comfortable, willing and able to talk about what is most important to them. As such, the workplace can play a critical role in breaking barriers and encouraging increased intercultural understanding and communication.
