The University of Arkansas's mock trial teams have had national success through the month of October.

The U of A's mock trial team competed at its own Mock Hogs Invitational, a tournament that was completely hosted and run by University of Arkansas Mock Trial students. This event took place on Oct. 8 and 9. Twenty teams from across the country attended this event virtually. It was run by tournament director Jacinda Montgomery.

Luke Hubbard and Abby Walton, co-captains of one of the UARK Mock Trial's team (dubbed "Team Chicken"), each received attorney awards for their performances that weekend. Judges dubbed them as one of the best attorneys present in each round of competition. Luke Hubbard received 19 "ranks," one point shy of a perfect score. Abby Walton received 18 ranks.

On Oc. 15 and 16, UARK Mock Trial teams Flamingo and Penguin competed at two different tournaments. Team Flamingo attended the Jayhawk Round Robin at the University of Kansas. Team Penguin attended the Arch Invitational at the University of Washington in St. Louis.

Penguins Harrison Merrick and Captain Bryton Miller walked away from the Arch Invitational with 18 rank witness awards, meaning judges dubbed them to be the most outstanding witnesses in their rounds.

On Oct. 22 and 23, Teams Chicken and Peacock competed at the Chucky Mullins Invitational hosted at Ole Miss. Team Chicken's Luke Hubbard walked away with an 18 rank witness award. Team Peacock's Trinity Tipton walked away with a standout 17 and 18 ranks on both sides of competition for her performance as a witness. Team Peacock's captain, Caitlyn Hager, received a perfect 20 ranks attorney award for her performance as an attorney.

Team Penguins competed at the CCI invitational at the University of Georgia that same weekend. Captain Julianna Kantner received a 17 rank attorney award, and captain Bryton Miller received 17 rank witness award.

University of Arkansas's Mock Trial team is a trial simulation-based RSO that competes in tournaments across the country. Tryouts are held at the beginning of each fall semester.
