Italian Program to Screen Documentary 'As Good As Bread' With Director D'Amanda
Please join the Italian Program for the screening of the documentary film As Good As Bread. The film will be presented by its director, Elisabetta D'Amanda of the Rochester Institute of Technology, and following the film there will be a Q&A session also with her. The film will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in Giffels Auditorium. It is co-sponsored by the National Italian American Foundation.
Film Synopsis: Through the eyes of three children, conversing with three different generations about their Italian heritage, we learn about the different facets of a complex community. Italians say "As Good as Bread" and not "As Good as Gold" because their life revolves around the family and the community rather than possessions. This element is the leading thread of this oral history film on the Italian American community of Rochester, New York, the ninth largest for number of Italian residents in the United States.
