Oct. 31 Application Deadline for Hoyt Purvis Award Nominations
The Graduate School and International Education are now accepting nominations for the annual Hoyt Purvis Award for Service in International Education recognizing members of the U of A community for their outstanding service to the field of international education and their commitment to promoting mutual understanding between people of all nations.
Nominations can be submitted by any U of A student, staff or faculty member. Successful nominees will have a record of outstanding service and/or leadership to international education and a commitment to promoting mutual understanding between peoples of all nations within the U of A campus and the greater community.
Those wishing to submit nominations can find more information on the Graduate School and International Education website and complete the nomination form. The nomination deadline is at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
One award is given in each of the following categories:
- University faculty member
- University staff member
- Graduate School and International Education staff member
Winners will be selected by the Graduate School and International Education, and recipients will be invited to the annual reception for international scholars hosted by the chancellor as part of International Education Week celebrated nationally during the third week of November.
The award was established to honor Purvis, an emeritus U of A professor of journalism and international relations, for his contributions to and advocacy for international education at the U of A. He was the first recipient of the award in 2016.
