The office of New Student & Family Programs, in collaboration with the Volunteer Action Center, hosted a Cooking Matters class for first-year, first-generation students on Monday, Sept. 26.
Students were able to learn how to make spring rolls, knife skills, budgeting and nutrition information that will help them make informed decisions when it comes to their health. Participants were able to give their feedback on future events that will assist them in being successful.
Nov. 7-11 is National First-Generation College Celebration week! There will be events throughout the week with a large celebration on Nov. 8 in the Union Connections Lounge. Keep your eyes open for more details!
If you would like an event or program targeting first-generation students to be included on the First-Year, First-Gen monthly newsletter, or partnership on an event, please contact Emily Cook, assistant director of New Student & Family Programs at ebcook@uark.edu.
