In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a display of books from the University Libraries' Diversity Collection is up on the lobby level of Mullins Library. All are available for checkout to campus users. The libraries also offer online resources for those wanting to learn more about Hispanic heritage.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and celebrates Hispanic Americans' culture, history, achievements and contributions in the United States. The books on display cover a variety of topics related to Hispanic heritage. Titles include Redeeming la Raza: Transborder Modernity, Race, Respectability, and Rights by Gabriela Gonzalez; Latino/a Thought: Culture, Politics, and Society by Francisco H. Vazquez; and Icons of Latino America: Latino Contributions to American Culture by Roger Bruns.

"I love the book selections made by Lynaire Hartsell, user experience coordinator for the University Libraries," said Martha Anderson, libraries director of diversity, equity and inclusion. "The print collection provides a great atmosphere for students to visit Mullins and to learn about diverse cultures and languages in our local area."

The Diversity and Inclusion at the U of A Libraries research guide includes a section on Latinx and Hispanic resources, including books, campus groups and Spanish-speaking authors in the libraries' collections. Other related research guides include Resources for Spanish Teaching Assistants and Latin American and Latino Literature
