Applications for 2022-23 Provost's Fellow in the Office for Faculty Affairs Due Today

The Office for Faculty Affairs is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 Provost's Fellow in Faculty Affairs. Applications will be open until today, Friday, Sept. 23.

This year, one fellow will be chosen to work on a project that is aligned with one of the three priorities of the Office for Faculty Affairs. The areas in which proposals will be considered are:

  • Assessment of departmental service and/or teaching workloads
  • Enhancement of existing departmental faculty onboarding and mentoring programs or adaptation of existing programs (e.g., Bridge Program)
  • Enhancement of departmental faculty recruitment strategies, especially the recruitment of faculty from underrepresented groups

The fellowship will begin in the Fall 2022 semester and run through the Spring 2023 semester. During the Fall 2022 semester, the Fellow will receive a $5,000 stipend. A stipend of $5,000 for the spring semester will be awarded to the academic unit from which the faculty member is selected, covering one class if the fellow chooses to apply for release time; if there is no reduction in the teaching load, the Fellow can choose to receive the $5,000 stipend.

All faculty applications/projects must be endorsed by the faculty's department chair/head, and the dean must support department chair/head applications. Applicants must submit a one-page proposal outlining their project and a short bio highlighting their experiences and expertise relative to the proposed project. All faculty in professorial ranks are eligible to apply. The link to the application can be found here.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee representing the Provost's Office, academic colleges and the Division for DEI. The committee will recommend top proposals to the provost and the vice provost for faculty affairs.

The Fellow will be notified about their selection by Oct. 15.
