University Hires Workday Support Leader: ERP Upgrades Coming Soon

James Morrison has joined the U of A to lead our campus forward in the use and optimization of Workday. As senior director of the User Solutions Team, Morrison joins the university having deep experience successfully negotiating the alignment of business processes with technology platforms at several higher education institutions and in private industry. Under his leadership, Workday optimization efforts by Project One will continue to improve how Workday supports our finance and HCM operations.

"The addition of James to our university team creates great potential and opportunity to enable efficient and effective administrative transactions, reporting capabilities and coordination across functional areas. His experience and positive attitude bring new perspective and energy to campus," said Ann Bordelon, vice chancellor for finance and administration. Over his first three weeks on the job, Morrison has been getting oriented to campus, building relationships and learning about campus needs for Workday optimization.

Morrison joins the university as Workday nears its upcoming biannual release on Sept. 10 and the launch of Payment Works on Sept. 16 as described below (visit UAF Workday Resources to stay updated on Workday and access training materials). As Morrison manages these Workday enhancements and adjusts to his new role, he noted, "I am impressed by the people at the University of Arkansas — everyone has been willing to share their experiences with, and hopes for, Workday. I truly enjoy working with people to bring efficient processes together with technology in ways that serve our land grant mission."

Sept. 10 Release

Workday implements two major releases per year, and we are excited about the changes coming with WD2022R2 on Sept. 10! Key updates include the transformation of the Workday Inbox into My Tasks (see below) and displaying a user's University ID number on their profile header.

To stay informed on updates and releases in Workday, visit Workday News. In addition to the most recent Release Guides, we've also added a section called "Submit a Question" that uses Yammer to provide an up-to-date FAQ. It's important to remember that planned releases may be postponed or canceled, so be sure to bookmark this web page and check for updates.

Inbox Transformation

Your Workday Inbox is changing to My Tasks, with a new look and features. The My Tasks section will include your current and archived items, a simplified filter and a link to manage delegations. For more information about this change, visit the My Tasks page on UAF Workday Resources.

Payment Works

PaymentWorks will be available starting Sept. 16. It is an easy-to-use web portal that will allow campus organizations to invite potential vendors to complete an online onboarding process and become vendors. Vendors submit their identity, which is automatically verified against third-party data sources. This will help streamline the process of onboarding a vendor while reducing the risk. For more information, visit the PaymentWorks page on UAF Workday Resources.
