An Evening of Dance: Rebirth

The Department of Theatre in is pleased to announce the return of dance to the U of A, in a partnership with a registered student organization, The Movement. To be fair, dance has never left. However, for the first time in over 30 years, a dance concert will be held on the University Theater Stage. In addition to the five Subscription Series theatre productions produced by the Department of Theatre, there will be a dance concert added to the series.

Current dance faculty member Michelle LeBlanc and the student officers of The Movement RSO will be holding auditions for all U of A students who are interested in becoming a member of the inaugural dance company. Auditions for the inaugural dance concert will start at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Global Campus Black Box Theatre, which is located at 2 E. Center St., just off the downtown Fayetteville Square.

Sign up to audition.

The dance concert, titled Rebirth — An Evening of Dance, will be presented on the University Theater stage located in the Fine Arts Center, 340 Garland Ave., at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. There will be a celebratory reception held immediately following the Sunday matinee performance on Dec. 4. We hope all who attend and love dance will join us to welcome dance back on the stage at the U of A!
