Chemical Engineering Student Awarded the 2022 FutureFuel Scholarship Award

Lashae Hall, a senior chemical engineering student in the College of Engineering, has been awarded the 2022 FutureFuel Scholarship Award. The Terry Martin Endowed Outstanding Intern Award sponsored by FutureFuel Chemical Company is a $1,000 scholarship provided annually to an outstanding intern or interns.
Hall spent this summer as the wastewater engineering intern in the Office of Water Quality at the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment.
"I have been able to complete a project including over 100 water sources across Arkansas and their stream data, of which I had to interpret, categorize and summarize the average and predicted amounts of certain minerals in each category," Hall said. "I am also involved in permit writing, as well as site inspections, which involve tracking and evaluating water minerals, nutrients and other contents for varying streams across Arkansas to compare to regulatory stipulations."
Hall said she was also able to attend the Environmental Protection Agency's "Air Sensor Loan Pilot Programs: Successes, New Resources, and Lessons Learned" webinar to broaden her knowledge on occurrences of air quality in the industry.
"This internship has made a huge impact on my career choice as well as my professional network. As the recipient of this scholarship, I am very grateful to the FutureFuel Chemical Company for investing in my education and celebrating my accomplishments as I progress into my career," she said.
The scholarship was established in 2014 by FutureFuel in recognition of Terry Martin, interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Martin has provided service and mentorship to students in the Electrical Engineering Department and the College of Engineering during his tenure as a faculty member, assistant department head of electrical engineering and senior associate dean for academics.
The scholarship is open to students in the College of Engineering who have worked a full-time or part-time internship within the academic year. Preference is given to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering and computer science majors.
