40 Years of Service: Allen Edmondson

Allen Edmondson is retiring after nearly 40 years of service with the operations team in the Administrative Services Data Center.

Edmondson started his career with the university as a computer operator trainee in 1982. He can usually be seen wearing a Navy cap. He served from 1976 - 1980 and served in the Mediterranean, visiting Rome, Pompeii and Egypt during that time. The most important event during his time in the Navy occurred when after a long-distance courtship, Edmondson proposed to his wife through a letter.

He is leaving the university as an administrative specialist II. Following retirement, Edmondson plans to pursue preaching.

26 Years of Service: Roger Henry

Roger Henry is retiring after over 25 years of service to the university managing the Arkansas Union computer lab and providing support at the IT Help Desk. He started working as a part-time lab operator in 1996 and was promoted to a full-time position in 1997.

In his role at the Arkansas Union, Henry has been a staple of new student orientation helping people navigate the increasingly complex technology environment on campus. He has also trained many computer lab operators who later became IT professionals who now work in various roles across campus. In retirement, Henry says he looks forward to spending time on "traveling, self-improvement and setting some new State of Arkansas Masters swim records."
