Red Flags, Green Flags: Relationship Violence Edition Today
Are they displaying behaviors that are deal-breakers? Or are they your next left or right swipe?
Learning how to identify red and green flags of relationships can help determine whether to say yes, maybe or no. Red flags are warning signs of potential unhealthy and possibly abusive behavior. Green flags, however, are the good indicators of healthy relationships.
Do you know the signs of an unhealthy or abusive relationship? Often people do not know they are experiencing abuse. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in four women and one in nine men have experienced intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence affects everyone in some way. One may know someone who has experienced intimate partner violence or be in an abusive relationship.
Join the RESPECT Peer Educators from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Pat Walker Health Care Center's Walker Family Classrooms 1117-1118 for a discussion exploring both red and green flags of relationships. Several types of abuse will be identified and an understanding of its impact on health. In addition, we will identify red and green flags over text messaging and social media. Concluding the night, we will interact with a game. All students are invited to attend and our encouraged to take this opportunity to learn more about healthy relationships.
