Join us for our Annual Honors College Best in Show!

Dog lovers, we've got a treat for you — and treats for your dog. On Thursday, April 28, from 2-4 p.m. the Honors College will host "Best in Show," a golden opportunity to show off your pooch and indulge in all things canine.

You may enter your dog in the following categories:

  • Best Costume
  • Best Obstacle Course Run
  • Best Trick
  • Best Dog Toy Destroyer
  • Best Tug-of-War
  • Best "Dishwasher"

There will be popsicles, water, dog treats and excellent prizes for the winning dogs. All on campus and in the community are invited to attend. If you plan to bring your dog or enter your dog into competition, you must register in advance; submissions will be accepted on the day of the event but only if you have the correct vaccination paperwork. Please note that you are required to show proof of current vaccination records at the time of registration, per university policy. Only one dog per person, please. If you do not have a uark email address to register, please email klw038@uark.edu.

Proud parents of all types of pets (cat, gecko, hedgehog…all welcome!) may also upload a photo of their pet when registering to enter the "Cutest Pet" competition, currently underway on the Honors College Facebook page. There you can find adorable photos of prime contenders like Foxtrot, Penny, Sancha, Rupert and Capt. Sparky — with contestants like these, there will certainly be some stiff competition come showtime!

Campus canine enthusiasts are eager to enter their dogs in competition.

"Though Penny's real talents lie in quickly and efficiently destroying socks, I believe she will be a strong contender in the best dishwasher challenge," says Chelsea Hodge, director of grants and research innovation. A recent addition to the Hodge household, Penny is a terrier mix rescue who will compete in "Best Dishwasher" and "Best Costume" categories.
